Juventus striker Mario Manjukic announced his retirement from Croatia`s national team after winning a silver medal with the World Cup squad in Russia. For his homeland, the 32-year-old has 89 games in which he scored 33 goals, making him the second best scorer in the history of chess players. With them he participated in two European and two world championships, all in the period 2012-2018. From the website of the Croatian Football Federation published his message on this occasion:

Dear fans,

I always preferred to talkon the pitch than outside. Therefore, it is more difficult to say these words than winning a single fight or sprinting in the 120th minute. It`s harder, as I realize how much enjoyment the international games and wins bring me. It`s harder because I know there`s nothing more emotional than listening to the national anthem before the game advised by fixed football tips begins. It is more difficult because I understand the honor of carrying the Croatian team and representing my homeland. It`s harder because it`s the final decision and there`s no going back. However, I realize that now is the time to say it:

I am leaving the Croatian national team.


The silver medal from the World Cup gave me new energy, but it made this incredibly difficult decision a little easier. We have made our dreams come true, have achieved historic success and have experienced impressive fan support. This month, including meeting in Zagreb, Slavonski Brod (his birthplace - b. R. ) And all of Croatia, will remain the most important memory in my entire career. It was the most beautiful trip with the national team and my favorite return home. I am more than happy and extremely proud of the silver medal that has been forged for years through pain, effort, work, disappointments and difficult moments. There is no perfect time to give up. If possible, we would all play for Croatia until our death, because there is no more proud feeling, but I feel that time is coming for me now. I gave my best for Croatia and contributed to the biggest success in Croatian football.
